The JCCI EKIDEN is a traditional Japanese-style relay race organized by Viet Jungle Co., Ltd. and sponsored by JCCI.
The JCCI EKIDEN 2024 will be held on November 24, 2024 at The Garden Bistro in Ecopark downtown, and 1,000 athletes from Japanese and local companies in Vietnam are expected to participate.
Platinum Sponsor: The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (JCCI)
The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (JCCI), originally established as an economic organization in 1992, had 812 member companies as of August 1, 2024. To enhance the business environment in Vietnam for Japanese companies, JCCI regularly gathers feedback from its members and engages in negotiations with the Vietnamese government and various agencies. Additionally, JCCI organizes comprehensive activities to facilitate interaction and bonding among members, strengthen friendly relations, and foster cultural exchange between Japan and Vietnam. It also promotes economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and improves the living conditions of Japanese expatriates in Vietnam.
The JCCI Ekiden race is one of JCCIs activities. The JCCI Ekiden is a traditional Japanese relay race, sponsored by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (JCCI) as a platinum sponsor, and was first held in 2016. Since then, with the goal of promoting team-building activities and enhancing the health of company members through this event, JCCI has organized the relay race annually for members and stakeholders, except for 2020 and 2021 when the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ekiden is a simple race where participants just run, but it is a sport full of drama as teams of five pass the tasuki (sash) to each other, competing to either overtake or avoid being overtaken by other teams. In this event, Vietnamese and Japanese, regardless of gender or position within the company, compete equally as athletes in the relay race.
With this spirit, the Ekiden race has been warmly received and supported over the years.
